The departure of the United Kingdom (EU) from the European Union (EU), the "Brexit", raises enormous uncertainties to the English local authorities. This is the case, in particular, of the EU's regional policy, which in recent years has become an important source of financial support for projects at a local level, in a context of increasing political centralization and budgetary adjustment. While during the referendum campaign, the local authorities remained relatively calm, at this time there is great concern about the future and the availability of support from the EU's regional policy. This article provides an initial insight into the role played by local authorities during the campaign and their attempts to influence regional policy after Brexit.
