Abstract

For the organisation development practitioner the problem of value is to do with modes of conduct or desired end‐states and the movement towards these. The alternatives appear to be for the OD practitioner to make the value base as explicit as possible, or to act as third party to an organisational situation, concerned with existential knowledge and increasing the level of political discussion over desired end‐states among managers. In this latter manner organisational change activities can be geared to progressively changing realities.
